Description

Service to create and edit XLSX books with ONLYOFFICE Docs. Organize data in sheets, apply formulas and formats and keep the file and its versions in Cloud.

How to create the service

Select Cloud > New Item > spreadsheet Application generates an empty XLSX and opens ONLYOFFICE. The uploaded XLS, XLSX and ODS files can be managed and transformed according to their allowed applications.

Interface and controls

The interface includes cell grid, formula bar, tab sheets and formatting tools, data, filters, insertion, graphics and revision. The Apification header offers navigation and full screen. Properties and versions are managed from Cloud.

Full workflow

  1. Defines sheets, headers and column structure.
  2. Enter or paste data and assign types and formats.
  3. Add formulas, validations, filters and graphics.
  4. Check for references, results and error values.
  5. Wait for the ONLYOFFICE save and see versions if necessary.
  6. Download XLSX or transform to ODS, CSV, PDF or other compatible format.

Supported files or data

The created book uses XLSX. Transformer admits XLS, XLSX and ODS, and the data catalog works with CSV, TSV, JSON and XML. Import and export may require defining delimiter, encoding, headers and types.

Configuration options

Includes sheets, cells, ranges, formats, formulas, filters, sorting, validation, protection and graphics. Transformation actions allow you to select sheets and ranges, join, divide, add, transpose, deduplicate, compare, search and replace, create charts, joins and dynamic tables.

Output and export formats

The main editable is XLSX. Transformations can produce XLSX, XLS, ODS, CSV, TSV, PDF, HTML, JSON or XML, among other results defined by the action. Some flat outputs retain only one sheet and do not maintain formulas, styles or graphics.

Saving, downloading and sharing

The save is confirmed by the ONLYOFFICE callback and you can create a previous version. Download the original or generate a conversion from Share.Users grants access to Apification accounts and visibility controls the general access of the service.

Limits and technical requirements

Requires ONLYOFFICE Document Server. Structural transformations use PhpSpreadsheet and some conversions LibreOffice. Books with many cells, volatile formulas, graphics or styles can consume a lot of memory. The available functions may differ between Excel, ONLYOFICE and LibreOffice.

Common errors

  • A formula changes or shows error: reviews separators, function names and external references.
  • CSV appears in a single column: select the correct delimiter and encoding when importing.
  • Not stored: checks connectivity and callback from ONLYOFFICE.
  • The transformation exhausts memory: limits leaves or ranges and divides the book.

Privacy and data processing

Books may contain personal or financial data. It limits users, avoids unnecessary public links and protects exports. ONLYOFICE processes a temporary copy according to the configured infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is CSV a spreadsheet? It is a flat tabular format: it does not retain several sheets, styles or formulas.
  • Are all graphics maintained when converting? Not always; check the resulting file.
  • Can I join data from two books? Yes, by joining or joining actions when the columns are compatible.
