Poll
Description
Service for asking one question with closed choices, collecting votes under access rules, and displaying or exporting results.
Use cases
- Choose one option from several alternatives.
- Run internal or public consultations.
- Prioritize proposals and measure preferences.
- Publish aggregate results under configured rules.
How to create the service
Open Cloud > New item, choose Poll, define its name and folder, and enter the initial question. Then configure choices, design, access, active period, and result visibility.
Interface and controls
The editor separates question and choices, styles, access, preview, and results. Choices can be added, ordered, and removed before publication. The shared selector adds images. Header actions save and publish; results display counts, distribution, activity, and export.
Full workflow
- Write an unambiguous question and mutually clear choices.
- Configure text, images, and design.
- Define active period, participation rules, and access.
- Decide when results are visible.
- Test a vote and publish.
- Share link or embed and monitor participation.
- Close the poll and export results.
Supported files or data
The service stores its question, choices, configuration, and votes. Compatible Cloud images can be used where supported. Exported data includes permitted participation and result fields, with minimization where appropriate.
Configuration options
Options include question, description, choices, order, images, styles, status, dates, limits, authentication, OTP or external providers, one-or-more participation rules, result visibility, messages, and public-page behavior.
Output and export formats
The output is a public voting page and aggregate results with counts and percentages. Data can be exported in enabled formats, normally CSV, XLSX, ODS, JSON, XML, HTML, or PDF.
Saving, downloading and sharing
Saving updates the definition and retains versions where applicable. Share the URL or embed after publication. Users provides internal access. Download results from their dedicated page and retain a final copy before changing or archiving the poll.
Limits and technical requirements
Dates, limits, credits, and plan access rules apply. Browser or network controls reduce duplicates but do not equal verified identity. Changing or deleting choices after votes exist changes the meaning of results.
Common errors
- Voting is unavailable: check publication, active period, limits, and authentication.
- A user is marked as already participating: review duplicate rules and identification method.
- Percentages do not total exactly 100: this can result from display rounding.
- A choice is missing: confirm that it is active and saved before publication.
Privacy and data processing
State whether voting is anonymous, pseudonymous, or identified before participation. Restrict individual results and do not claim anonymity when stored identifiers can link a vote to a person.
Frequently asked questions
- Is the poll legally binding? Not by default; this depends on rules, identification, evidence, and applicable law.
- Can results remain hidden until closing? Yes, when supported by configuration.
- Can choices be changed? It may be technically possible, but should not be done after voting without restarting or documenting the change.
