Diagram
Description
Integrated diagrams.net editor for representing processes, architectures, networks, and relationships with nodes and connectors.
Use cases
- Create flowcharts, processes, and decision diagrams.
- Document architecture, networks, or data models.
- Build organization charts and concept maps.
- Share an editable and exportable visual representation.
How to create the service
Select Cloud > New item > Diagram, enter a name and folder, and create the service. Apification opens the integrated editor with an empty diagram. Compatible diagrams.net files can also be imported where the action is available.
Interface and controls
The sidebar contains shape libraries and the canvas supports selection, text, connectors, zoom, and navigation. Toolbars manage style, alignment, distribution, layers, undo, and redo. Saving returns XML to Apification; export options belong to the embedded editor.
Full workflow
- Define purpose, audience, and reading direction.
- Add main nodes and clear labels.
- Connect elements and define relationship direction and type.
- Align, distribute, and group to reduce crossings.
- Apply consistent styles and review the complete diagram.
- Save the editable definition and export a visual copy.
Supported files or data
The service stores diagrams.net/draw.io compatible XML and an SVG preview when generated. It can import XML or files recognized by the implemented flow. External images and libraries depend on embedded-editor settings.
Configuration options
Options include shapes, text, connectors, arrows, color, border, fill, typography, alignment, distribution, groups, layers, pages, grid, zoom, and page settings. Exact controls can vary with the configured diagrams.net version.
Output and export formats
The editable result is diagram XML and preview uses SVG. The editor can offer PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, and diagrams.net XML depending on configuration; verify the selected format before download.
Saving, downloading and sharing
Saving retains XML and SVG and creates a previous version where applicable. Share or manage users from Cloud. Download an editor-provided format or retain the service for later editing. Do not close until save is confirmed.
Limits and technical requirements
The editor loads from services.diagram.embed_url and requires network access, compatible iframe policies, and cross-domain messaging. Large diagrams increase memory and rendering time. External assets may later become unavailable.
Common errors
- The editor does not load: check embed URL, CSP, network, and iframe blocking.
- Saving fails: validate messaging and XML.
- Preview is blank: save again to regenerate SVG.
- Export is cropped: adjust page, scale, and include-whole-diagram settings.
Privacy and data processing
If the embed URL points to an external service, content may be processed outside Apification. Use an authorized instance for sensitive information. Avoid credentials, secrets, or unnecessary personal data in nodes and comments.
Frequently asked questions

- Can an exported PNG remain structurally editable? No, retain the service or original XML.
